Trust is important in a relationship. If you start doubting your partner’s every word and action, then you’re both headed for trouble real fast.
It may be easier telling a lie or two to make things seem better, but it will often come back to bite you in the long run. It’s better to be honest and trusting – just look at the hilarious story below to see why! I hope it will make you laugh as hard as it did me!
Mr Smith is on a business trip to Canada. He’s sitting in a hotel room, bored out of his mind. He decides to call home and see how his family is doing.
“Hello?” says a young girl on the other side of the line.
“Hello sweetie, it’s daddy. Is mommy there?”
“No, daddy. She’s up in the bedroom with our neighbor.”
Mr Smith couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
“What did you just say?” he yelled, “WHAT IN GOD’S NAME IS OUR NEIGHBOR DOING IN MY BEDROOM?”
“Should I go check…?”
“NO! No no, sweetie, definitely not!”
Mr Smith takes a few moments to collect himself. After a short break, he says:
“Okay sweetie. Can you do something for me? Put down the phone, run up the stairs, knock on the bedroom door and tell mommy that my car just pulled into the driveway.”
A few minutes later, the girl returns to the phone.
“I did it like you said, dad.”
“And what happened?”
“Mom jumped out of the bed without any clothes on, and was running around yelling. Then she tripped on the carpet and fell down the stairs. Now she’s just lying there and her neck looks funny.”
Mr Smith’s eyes went wide. “Oh my god! And what about the neighbor?”
“He also jumped out of the bed without any clothes. He was really scared and jumped out of the window and into the swimming pool. But he must have forgotten that you had emptied the pool for cleaning. He hit the bottom and now he’s just lying there without moving.”
After a long pause, Mr Smith says:
“Swimming pool? We don’t have a… Oh. You’re not my daughter Carol, are you?”
“No, I’m Felicia.”
“Excuse me. I must have dialed the wrong number…”
